Technical Workshops

Technical Workshops

As a society, we are always looking to enhance and strengthen our technical team. One way we have been doing this is through our technical workshops. We successfully ran a lighting and sound workshop last month, introducing members to the basics of lighting design and sound technology.

Furthering this workshop, we are holding our second Technical workshop, lighting oriented, on Sunday 13th July 2025. This will run in 2 sessions - 10-12:30, beginners workshop, for those who would who missed our first workshop, or would like a refresher, and 1:30-4, lighting design, getting more technical into programming and advanced skills.

We would love to see as many of you there as possible, to learn new things and enjoy yourselves! All are welcome so bring along any friends or family interested in learning about the technical side of our productions.

NODA Awards 2025

NODA Awards 2025

SNADS had the pleasure of being invited to the annual NODA awards, held in Sandy Park, Exeter, this year on the 24th May. Alongside the invite came 4 nominations, 3 for Sweet Sorrow and 1 for Aladdin! A handful of SNADS members, from both shows, pictured below, went along to the award ceremony on behalf of the society, for an evening of celebration.

The nominations were as follows;

NODA South West Peter Wheeldon Memorial Trophy for a company crafted production (Aladdin)

NODA South West award for most innovative production (Sweet Sorrow)

NODA South West stage electrics award for technical achievement (Sweet Sorrow)

NODA South West Certificate of Excellence for recognition of original writing of new dramatic work (Sweet Sorrow)

We had the honour of taking the latter award home for SNADS member Sue Ashby, writer of Sweet Sorrow in her winning the award!

Overall, it was an enjoyable evening had by all, and we hope to be returning next year with more nominations from the shows we’re putting on this year! Thank you to everyone involved in both shows, cast and crew, and for those who attended on their behalf!
